A crown is a permanent covering that fits over your tooth that has either decay, damage or cracked. Crowns can come from a variety of different materials, such as, porcelain, gold, acrylic resin, or a combination of these materials. The crowns that we produce here are either lab fabricated crowns or Cerec crowns.
We proudly utilize the Cerec technology for our one visit restorations. A digital 3D camera creates a digital image of the prepared tooth. The computer-aided design (CAD) software enables us to design and create precise restorations that are specific to your dental needs. These highly durable restorations can also be color-matched for a more natural looking smile. This technology eleminated the need for a temporary crown and maximizes the use of your time while providing you with an anethetically pleasing restoraion. Although Cerec crowns are efficient and desireable they are not always the best option for all patients. Our doctor will always discuss your options and what is best for you and your dental health. If you have any questions please feel free to fill out our information request or call today!
When a tooth is in need of a crown, it will be re-sculpted to remove the decay or damage. Then an impression is made of the tooth, which will be the template from which the laboratory will create a custom made restoration. A temporary crown is made from an acrylic resin that fits over the affected tooth until the permanent crown has returned from the laboratory. When the permanent crown is returned (approximately 2 weeks), the temporary will be removed and permanent crown placed.

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
